These terms cover your purchase and use of Beacon, a macOS search application ("Beacon", "the app"), sold at beaconmac.com.
Orders are processed by our merchant of record, Paddle.com, who handle payment, billing, and sales tax. Paddle's Buyer Terms apply to the checkout transaction.
A Beacon license is an annual subscription ($15/year) for one person. You may use your license key on the Macs you personally own and use (up to 3 machines). While your subscription is active, all app updates are included automatically.
If your subscription ends, your license key stops validating. The app is designed to degrade gently — it will remind you rather than lock you out of your own data.
Beacon's source code is publicly available on GitHub under the PolyForm Internal Use License 1.0.0: you're free to read it, build it, and use it for yourself or internally at your company — but you may not redistribute it or works based on it. Your paid subscription covers the signed, notarized, auto-updating build distributed through this site.
Don't resell, redistribute, or share license keys. We may deactivate keys that are leaked or abused (we'll always try to contact you first).
Beacon is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid in the past 12 months.
We may update these terms; material changes will be noted on this page. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
